We named this regal, absolutely stunning cat "Raina," meaning "queen" in Russian. One of our long time volunteers said Raina is absolutely the most gorgeous cat she's ever seen in our six years of doing rescue. She clearly is a Maine Coon mix and very close to a photo of a "British look" Tabby in my favorite reference book. Her coat is white with charcoal with a few lovely accents of golden peach. She has charcoal/black spots on the back of her paws, and her eyes are citrine.
Raina's story is heartbreaking. She was abandoned when her family moved to Arizona (taking their two dogs but leaving Raina, then called "Marshmallow.") Raina struggled to find food, hid under bushes for shelter, was undoubtedly terrified. A neighbor noticed her, realized she had been abandoned, called the Humane Society and a few local shelters, none who would take Raina. One shelter said because they had so many cats, an older cat like Raina probably would be put to sleep. He finally dropped Raina at a local vet, not having any other options. The vet's office called us, and she is now ready for her new, loving home.
Our vet throughly examined Raina and said she's "pretty darn healthy," with no evidence of any issues.
Foster mom Mary writes: "Raina is in my bath/dressing room, but this can only be temporary. It's not fair to keep her in a relatively small space with little human interaction. So, we seek a new foster for her....or an adopter. Raina is very sweet, purred during her "photo shoot," and loves to be petted. She is easy to comb, actually doesn't shed much, uses the litter box without a miss and seems very interested in our resident cats (although they haven't met yet). She needs a home where she can get lots of human attention, as this will help her blossom. And, I'm continually struck by her beauty."
