Djarum Superliga Badminton: Sony Dwi Kuncoro overwhelms Daren Liew in Men?s Singles encounter
Indonesia?s experienced player Sony Dwi Kuncoro proved his mettle in the arena as he played terrific badminton and outplayed Malaysia?s Daren Liew in Men?s Singles encounter at Djarum Superliga Badminton 2013 in Indonesia, on Friday, February 8.
Kuncoro, representing PB Jaya Raya Suryanaga badminton club, put up spectacular show of top quality badminton and remained successful in winning the battle in just 30 minutes without facing any problem.
The local shuttler was at his best in the arena as he did not show any respect to his Malaysian rival at any stage and ended up the contest in straight games with a crushing 21-11 and 21-13 total on the score board.
Daren, who is representing Malaysia Tigers Badminton Club in the tournament, could not put up strong show as he failed to play positive badminton at any stage in the whole battle. He failed to stop the aggression of his challenger and lost the match with a humiliating margin.
Kuncoro delivered extremely well from the starting rallies of first game as he played with spectacular speed and took over the charge of rallies.
The lofty skills and tricky game plan assisted Kuncoro to grab the control of the rallies and he easily created pressure on his Malaysian challenger.
Until the end of starting half of starting set, the remarkable Kuncoro attained a strong position on score board by establishing a sufficient gap.
After the break, Daren tried to show aggression as he increased his speed in all areas of the court but could not take charge of rallies and remained trailing behind on the board.
Kuncoro continued hitting powerful smashes in targeted areas and grabbed the opening game with a stunning total of 21-11.
Daren increased his speed to play tricky badminton in the starting half of second set but he failed to build pressure on his rival.
Indonesian shuttler impressed the crowd with his incredible craft that helped him to maintain pressure on his opponent who failed to find good rhythm.
Kuncoro continued putting up reasonable show in the concluding part of second game and remained successful in winning the set with a superb 21-13 margin on score board.
